Trust, supplier of digital accessories for the Gaming and Home & Office market, proudly announces it has been awarded a Silver EcoVadis medal. EcoVadis is regarded as the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings.
EcoVadis globally assesses organisations across all industries in a number of areas critical to achieving sustainable goals, including environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. In particular, EcoVadis recognises Trust’s practices in environment and labour, and human rights.
Allard Boer, CFO: “This rating is truly a reward for the improvements we’ve made. Our score shows that we are among the top 25% of our industry already assessed by EcoVadis in terms of sustainability. On the one hand, it is a nice compliment to be a frontrunner. On the other hand, it means that there is work to be done for the entire industry. We want to inspire others and are happy to start a dialogue with the partners in our value chain.”
Dorothee de Backer, Head of Products: “We are committed to continuously lowering our ecological footprint and strive for circularity and fair labour conditions in our supply chain. Therefore, we work closely with organisations like EcoVadis to integrate the principles of ESG into our operations and to develop fair digital accessories. Fair for people. Fair for the planet. At fair prices.”
Trust will use the EcoVadis assessment as a baseline measurement to identify areas for improvement. Martijn Lutgerink, CCO: “We want to offer consumers an affordable green alternative. Becoming more sustainable while keeping prices affordable is a journey which requires clever thinking, perseverance, and cooperation with all partners in the value chain.”
Sustainability at Trust
Two and a half years ago, Trust integrated Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) into its company strategy. Since then, many steps have been taken to achieve that goal. With every new product developed, Trust looks into the different areas in which it can make a difference.
From packaging to product
Trust has already made big steps in regards to sustainable packaging. Smaller packaging reduces materials and carbon emissions in transport at the same time. Trust now focuses on – and succeeds in – reducing the plastics in packaging. For the new Yvi+ mouse, for example, the packaging is 100% plastic-free.
Trust aims to offer fair and affordable products to everyone. The company speaks with suppliers about how to make their products more efficient in terms of energy consumption. Another big impact concerns the type of materials used in its products, striving to use recycled materials as much as possible. Although Trust recognises it can be challenging in the production process, the company has been able to make this work, and introduced its first certified products from recycled materials. And there is more coming in the near future.
Driver for positive change
Trust wants to be a driver for positive change and is dedicated to producing increasingly sustainable products. From the use of certified post-consumer recycled plastic and FSC-certified wood fibres, to rechargeable batteries and reduced packaging size, it is dedicated to doing what’s right – protecting the environment – while continuing to provide consumers with products they know, love, and Trust.
