With the announcement that Trust has received the EcoVadis Gold award for the second time, the company further solidifies its position as a ‘sustainable company to watch’ in 2024. Holding its place as amongst the top 5% of environmentally and socially-focused businesses in the industry, Trust has once more been recognised for its core value of producing more sustainable products in a fair and ethical manner.
Trust first received the Gold EcoVadis award at the end of 2022 as a result of the company’s strong Environmental, Social and Governance. However, since January, EcoVadis has elevated the requirements for most medal tiers, and so being awarded Gold again this year holds particular significance.
In spite of this, Trust has maintained its position in the 96th percentile of sustainable businesses in the industry, a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. CEO Jeroen Hoogland says of this achievement: ‘We are very proud to again achieve the EcoVadis Gold award, highlighting Trust’s commitment to sustainability in all areas of Environment, Social and Governance.
“With more and more companies applying for Ecovadis and the subsequent heightened requirements to achieve the awards, maintaining the Gold status is an extra special achievement. This would not have been possible without the support of everyone at Trust and the continued collaboration of our partners, and we look forward to continuing to uphold this very high standard.”
Throughout the past year alone, Trust has continued its sustainability journey with impactful product innovations and initiatives, including:
- Focusing on reducing environmental impact in both products and packaging. For example, 40% of all newly developed products now incorporate recycled materials; and products like the Lyra keyboard (made with 85% recycled plastics) are also packaged in a 100% plastic-free box
- Increasing the number of packaging and products using FSC®-certified materials. For example, the Boye mousepad, made with a 100% FSC®-certified natural rubber anti-slip bottom; and the Luminus RGB Gaming Desk, with a desktop made using FSC®-certified wood
- Supporting supply chain sustainability, with 61% of all suppliers BSCI-certified, and 92% of suppliers having been audited within the past 2 years to ensure fair and ethical standards are kept in place.
Whilst these are all impressive achievements, the company is keen to continue its sustainable growth, for example in now striving to make 80% of all new products with recycled materials and 90% of all new packaging from FSC®-certified carton. With the renewed Gold EcoVadis status and ongoing commitment to sustainability, Trust is poised to make even more of a meaningful impact on the environment in 2024 and beyond.
