Following the implementation of an ambitious ESG strategy in 2021, Trust has continued to put focus onto forging a more sustainable future for the business. With the release of the ‘Impact Report 2022-2023’, the company outlines the goals, achievements and plans put into place throughout the last year.
More sustainable products
In the reporting period 2022-2023, we introduced 59 products made from post-consumer recycled plastics. These include two of our most important products launched this year, the Trezo Comfort Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Set and Forta Gaming Headset, both made with 85% recycled plastics. In addition, we introduced four new products made with FSC®-certified materials.
More sustainable packaging
By replacing much plastic packaging with recyclable cardboard or FSC®-certified paper, we have seen an average plastic reduction per packaging of 21.5% this fiscal year. Furthermore, we were able to replace foam inserts used to package our gaming desks with recyclable cardboard, leading to a foam reduction of 75% in the packaging for the Luminus RGB Gaming Desk versus the Dominus Gaming Desk.
More recognition
As a result of our efforts, Trust was awarded the Gold medal rating from EcoVadis in November 2022. This now puts the company in the top 2% of companies rated by EcoVadis in the ‘wholesale of computers, computer peripheral equipment, and software’ industry, further demonstrating our continuously improving sustainability performance.
More certifications
In order to make sure that we are promoting environmental and social sustainability throughout the business, this fiscal year saw a rise in the number of certifications we hold ourselves and our suppliers to. As well as obtaining the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification and using a variety of FSC®-certified materials; we also increased the number of our suppliers that are BSCI certified and implemented a stricter audit strategy.
‘With sustainability at the heart of Trust’s purpose, our customers may and will expect even more sustainable practices from us in the future. ESG is more important than ever and we expect and hope 3rd party certifications will become the standard to back up ESG related claims so that claiming without evidence will quickly become history.’ – Rob Smit, Quality & ESG Manager
