As Technical Procurement Analyst you will play a vital role in supporting the purchasing team in becoming more effective and being on top of relevant market developments. By specifying the Bill of Material (BOM) of our products and monitoring the development of raw material prices, you provide clear insights in purchase price developments. This role is essential for negotiating product prices with suppliers and identifying opportunities to optimize the design and specifications of our products to reduce purchase costs, with respect to our sustainability commitment.

As Technical Procurement Analyst you report directly to the Head of Operations & Supply Chain.

 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Price Analysis:
  • Monitor and analyze the development of raw material prices.
  • Analyse and anticipate cost trends, develop and review cost forecasts, translate into implications for the business. Provide up-to-date information on price trends to support purchasing decisions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on price developments for the purchasing team.
  • Produce a monthly report on the development of the prices of the most relevant raw materials, based on a basket that represents the ratio in which the raw materials and other cost components are used in our products.
  • Lead the development of an effective set of cost models to track “target cost” status.

2. Supplier Negotiations:
  • Support the purchasing team in negotiating product prices with suppliers.
  • Utilize price analysis data to strengthen negotiation positions.
  • Support the negotiation teams with conceptual and fact-based information and opportunities to drive significant structural cost reduction improvement.

3. Bill of Materials (BOM) Analysis:
  • Analyze the BOM to identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with the product design and engineering teams to optimize product specifications.
  • Recommend changes to the design or specifications of products to achieve cost savings.
  • Provides should-cost assessments for (newly proposed) products.

4. Cost Optimization:
  • Identify and implement strategies to reduce purchase costs.
  • Identify strategic cost reduction opportunities in the product portfolio.
  • Drive the deployment of early supplier involvement through design-in or cost-reduction workshops.
  • Develop and deploy common approaches to target costing and tracking.
  • Conduct market research to identify alternative suppliers and materials.
  • Evaluate the impact of cost-saving initiatives on overall product quality and performance.
  • Identify and drive packaging and manufacturing cost down engineering.


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of raw material markets and trends is a plus.
  • Experience or cultural savviness with regard to Chinese / Asian culture is a plus.
