Celebrating another year of sustainable success – Trust’s Impact Report 2023-2024

After another year of maintaining a strong Environmental, Social and Governance strategy, Trust announces the release of its ‘Impact Report 2023-2024’. Highlighting the key goals and achievements from the past year, it is a firm reminder of the company’s positive sustainable growth. Some highlights include:

Circularity improvements in packaging

Big advances have been made in making Trust’s packaging more sustainable. By replacing plastic with the likes of recycled cardboard and carton, along with substituting protective plastic bags with FSC®-certified paper bags, we have reduced the use of plastic in our packaging by 35% compared to last year. Where plastic is still needed, the use of recycled plastic increased by 77%, which is definitely progress to be proud of.

Further clarity surrounding our carbon footprint

The total carbon footprint of Trust has been calculated to be 68.608 tonnes of CO2 eq. Whilst this number is higher than last year, this is due to more available LCA data, different products representing product groups, and changes in the product mix due to market trends. With this as our new baseline, we are highly motivated to step up our improvement efforts in this area even further.

Even more product certifications

Regarding 3rd party product certifications, we are fully committed to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS). Increasingly accepted by customers for their own ecolabelling program criteria, these are highly important to Trust as a means to prove to our customers and end-users that our products really contain recycled materials.

Maintaining our EcoVadis Gold medal

Trust is proud of maintaining our EcoVadis Gold status, further solidifying our position as a ‘sustainable company to watch’ in 2024 and beyond. With elevated requirements for all medal tiers put in place at the beginning of every year, being awarded Gold again this year holds particular significance. Once again recognised for its core value of producing more sustainable products in a fair and ethical manner, Trust maintains its position in the top 5% of ESG-focused businesses in the industry.

Strong plans for the future

We are proud to have made significant progress in our ESG strategy this year, but becoming more sustainable is a continuous process. Trust remains strongly on track with the company’s mission of providing products with improved circularity and a reduced carbon footprint that are both durable and affordable, and we will continue on this exciting journey over the coming years.

"With sustainability in the core strategy of the company, Trust is perfectly positioned to face the challenges of emission reduction and circularity. By using lifecycle analysis, sustainable materials and eco-design guidelines, Trust can offer affordable digital accessories that minimize carbon emissions and maximize circularity." - Arjan Steenbergen, ESG Manager
